The exhibition “KAJ WAS HERE” celebrates KAJ’s creative universe and honors Wasa Teater’s long-standing collaboration with Kevin, Axel, and Jakob.

At the entrance, you’ll find Botnia Paradise – complete with Svante the Swan’s play corner, Linda Q’s dressing room, and the pub with arcade games. The exhibition is interactive, and you’re welcome to take photos and share your personal highlights.

Further inside the theatre, you’ll enter Gambämark. Strike a pose with BäriKing, sit on the throne, or join the sewing circle’s secret rebellion.

And don’t miss the Disco Sauna in the courtyard!

Timeline

  • 2001
    Kevin writes his first song, “Mustard Belongs on the Grilled Sausage.”
  • 2003
    Jakob’s grandpa sings Hitton Litton for him and tells stories about how things used to be in the old times.
  • 2005
    The Åhman family tries tortillas for the first time. Mother is skeptical and boils potatoes just in case.
  • 2009
    KAJ is formed as a parody of boybands. Their first gig takes place in front of an overly intoxicated crowd at Norrvalla in Vörå.
  • 2011
    KAJ’s Christmas Calendar takes Ostrobothnia by storm.
  • 2012
    The debut album Professionella Pjasalappar is released three days before the comedy group heads off to military service. “Heimani i skick” is written on the army bus.
  • 2014
    Premiere of Pjäs elo Pjas, KAJ’s first production at Wasa Teater. Originally planned as three performances, the run was extended to 24 due to overwhelming demand.
    The single “Jåo nåo e ja jåo YOLO ja nåo” becomes a breakthrough hit across Swedish-speaking Finland.
  • 2015
    The music video for “Pa to ta na kako” is produced and released.
  • 2016
    “Taco Hej” reveals uncomfortable truths about Ostrobothnian marriages, and the third album Kom ti byin hits like a Thunder King in an anthill.
    The tour stops at Wasa Teater and plays to sold-out crowds.
  • 2017
    “Paavo’s Bark Bread” is sung by thousands of children in Botniahallen – many of whom barely know who mågin is or why it’s good that he has a kåo.
    KAJ begins working on the music and script for Gambämark.
  • 2018
    The musical Gambämark becomes a hit on Wasa Teater’s temporary stage at Ritz.
    The show tells the story of a fictional Ostrobothnian village that decides to build a wall and declare independence. With a mix of humor, social satire, and spot-on dialect, the production was a major success and attracted a wide audience.
  • 2019
    KAJ celebrates 10 years with two concerts in Botniahallen.
    A total of 21 songs are performed in a packed show featuring the best from their first decade – plus a few brand-new tracks.
  • 2021
    The cruise musical Botnia Paradise breaks Wasa Teater’s audience record.
    The production featured a large ensemble and live band, taking the audience aboard the Baltic Sea’s cheapest cruise ship – where every voyage turned into a personal crisis for both passengers and crew. With buffets, duty-free shopping, and nightclub chaos, the show delivered plenty of laughs and relatable moments.
  • 2023
    The members in KAJ turn 30 years old.
  • 2024
    The album Karar i arbeit is released, and KAJ heads out on tour.
  • 2025
    KAJ enters Sweden’s Melodifestivalen, wins – and takes the world by storm.
